Today we have a review with hair transplant journey of our patient Rakeshkumar Mali. We will share his case study in this article.
Rakeshkumar Mali is 30 years old male from Kochi city of Kerala state in India and doing a job in the city.
He is suffering from a hair fall problem for more than 7 years. He had started noticing baldness in grades 3 to 4 level since last 3 to 4 years ago. At present, he has lost his hairline completely as well as thinning in the front area.
His middle & crown areas are also having thinning of the hairs requiring a refilling transplant. This type of baldness is called diffuse pattern hair loss and we need refilling of transplanted hairs in all affected areas.
Along with hair loss he is also suffering from mild dandruff and mild active ongoing hair fall.
Genetically his father has baldness but late onset of hair loss. So, genetically he is more prone to hair loss.
Rakesh Kumar is not suffering from any medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other disease.
Previously Rakeshkumar had not undergone any major surgery in the body.
Patient has not any allergy to food or medicine.
Patient has no keloid in the body.
Rakesh Kumar had not taken any hairfall-related treatment. He had watched our videos on Instagram and YouTube and was impressed with the results of our patients.
Therefore, he decided to do hair transplant surgery at our Surat branch of HFHG clinic.
Finally, Vinod had consulted to Dr. Jinkal Kunjadiya, a renowned dermatologist at our Surat branch. He was given a thorough knowledge about hair transplants, and hair health conditions of Vinod. Also discussed his expectations, results of hair transplants with all advantages and disadvantages.
After a thorough understanding of hair transplant surgery, Vinod finally decided to go for hair transplant at Surat branch of Hairfree and Hairgrow clinic. And now, he was taken for hair transplant procedure.
Rakeshkumar Mali’s hair transplant was done on 25th September 2023 using Bio-FUE technique.
Post-transplant he was advised 5 PRP at 2 month intervals in 1 year along with supplements, DHT blocker, and Minoxidil 5% solution to maintain and grow his existing as well as transplanted hairs.
Also, a Trichoscopy analysis was done to check donor area hair quality and existing hair quality in recipient area. Patient’s donor area is very good and hair quality is thick and type of hair is mild wavy to straight and black hairs with a few white hairs also.
Then after anesthesia skin sensitivity test was done and found non-allergic to anesthesia content.
Afterward, Patient head was shaved for procedure and cleaned with betadine.
Now Dipesh was taken to the operation theater for a hair transplant and local modified block anesthesia was given with vibration painless technique.
Slit making is done by an expert hair transplant surgeon team using a Metal Saphhire tip blade the size of blade is 1.2 for the hairline and 1.4 for rest areas using a magnifying loupe.
It is a very important step and the angle and the direction of the slit need to be taken care of. So that there will be a natural-looking hairline and hairs will grow in proper direction.
Extraction of grafts is carefully done by an expert doctor using a magnifying loupe and 0.8 mm sharp serrated sterile titanium punch used for extraction.
Around 100 to 120 minutes time taken for exctracting the grafts.
If we classify the Graft analysis of Rakeshkumar, it was thick hair, dark black in color. Double-rooted grafts are more in quantity. Among all extracted grafts 20% were single-rooted grafts and rest 80% were multiple-root grafts containing double and triple-rooted grafts.
Rakeshkumar has also good number of 3 rooted grafts. So, he will get more benefits in terms of density. Total of 3574 grafts were extracted.
The extracted grafts were stored at 4* degree temperature in a graft chiller machine dip in RL solution.
The final step is implantation of extracted grafted into the slit made. The Graft insertion was done by using a K.E.E.P implanter of various sizes for 1,2,3 FU grafts. The approximate Time taken for implantation was 2 to 2 and a half hours.
After completion of implantation dressing was done, post-procedure medicines were given and all precaution were explained in detail. A personal follow-up doctor’s number was given, so that proper follow-up can be taken, and if there is any query, a patient can directly call the doctor.

After post hair transplant procedure first 2-3 months patient was in shedding phase where a majority of implanted hair fell out. All the hairs didn’t shed at a time.
During this phase 1 PRP was given at 2 months intervals. Exiting hair in middle and crown area has shown a good response to PRP & medical treatment. And his hair fall of existing hairs stopped.
Donor area skin heals completely by the end of 1 month & hair density looks normal by the end of 2-3 months in the donor.
This phase starts at 4 months. Now slowly implanted hairs started sprouting filling the blank areas in the hairline and front area.
2nd PRP was given to boost transplanted hair growth and existing hair. Trimmed existing hairs almost achieved full density look at the end of 5th month.
This phase starts at around 6-7-8 months. During these months implanted hairs started growing fast with almost more than 90% density, the length of each hair is not similar, but with a small hair length hairstyle patient is comfortable and satisfied. 1 booster PRP was given at this phase at 9 months.
Full hair transplant result of Rakeshkumar Mali was achieved at 10 months. Here patient is able to do any hairstyle.
Patient had 2-3 haircuts in donor area and front area as well. A patient asked to continue minoxidil & if required do booster PRP as needed in future for maintaining existing hair.
