Today, we have a review of the hair transplant journey of our patient Rakesh Mishra. We will share his case study.
Rakesh Mishra is a 36-year-old male from Jamshedpur in India and doing a job in the city.
He has been suffering from hair fall problem for more than 8 years. He had started noticing baldness at the grade 5–6 level over the last 4 to 5 years. At present, he had lost his hairline completely as well as thinning from the front to the crown area. So, he is requiring refilling transplant.
Along with hair loss, he is also suffering from mild dandruff and mild active ongoing hair fall.
Genetically, he has a paternal side history of baldness, but a late onset of hair loss. So, genetically, he is more prone to hair loss.
Rakesh is not suffering from any medical conditions such as blood pressure, diabetes or any other disease
Previously Rakesh was not undergone for any major surgery in the body.
Patient has not any allergy to food or medicine.
Patient has no any keloid in the body.
Rakesh had not taken any hair fall-related treatment. He had watched our videos on Instagram and YouTube and was impressed with the results of our patients.
Finally, he had consulted Dr. Jinkal Kunjadiya, a renowned dermatologist and hair transplant surgeon at our Surat branch. He was given thorough knowledge about hair transplant and hair health conditions of Rakesh, discussed his expectations, results of hair transplants with all advantages and disadvantages.
After a thorough understanding of hair transplant surgery, Rakesh got ready for the surgery. And finally, he was taken for the hair transplant procedure.
Rakesh Mishra’s hair transplant was done on January 6, 2021, using Big-FUE technique. Post-transplant, he was advised 3 PRPs at 2-month intervals in 6 months along with supplements, DHT blocker, and Minoxidil 5% and Minoxidil 10% solution to maintain and grow his existing as well as transplanted hairs.
Hairline design was done by Dr. Jinkal Kunjadiya as per the patient’s desire and hair loss condition. Also, Trichoscopy analysis was done to check donor area hair quality and existing hair quality in the recipient area. Patient’s donor area is good, and hair quality is thick and long, in length black hair.
Then, after anesthesia skin sensitivity test was done and found non-allergic to the anesthesia content. Afterwards, the patient’s head was shaved for the procedure and cleaned with Betadine.
Now Rakesh was taken to the operating theater for hair transplant, and local modified block anesthesia was given with vibration painless technique.
Slit making was done by expert hair transplant surgeon team using metal diamond crystal stone Sapphire tip blade, and the size of blade is 1.2 for hairline and 1.4 for rest areas using magnifying loupe. It is a very important step and the angle and direction of the slit need to be taken care of so that there will be natural-looking hairline and hairs will grow in proper direction.
Extraction of grafts was carefully done by an expert doctor using a magnifying loupe and a 0.8 mm sharp serrated sterile titanium punch used for extraction. Around 120 to 130 minutes were taken for extracting the grafts.
If we classify the graft analysis of Rakesh, it was thick hairs, dark black and white in color. Double-rooted grafts are more in quantity. Among all extracted grafts, 20% were single-rooted grafts, and the remaining 80% were multiple-rooted grafts containing double and triple-rooted grafts. Rakesh also has a good number of 3-rooted grafts. So, he will get more benefits in terms of density. A total of 4496 grafts were extracted.
The extracted grafts were stored at 4° degree temperature in a graft chiller machine dipped in RL solution.
The final step is implantation of extracted grafts into the slits made. The graft insertion was done by using K.E.E.P. implanter of various sizes for 1, 2, and 3 FU grafts. The approximate time taken for implantation was 3 to 3 and a half hours.
After completion of implantation, dressing was done, post-procedure medicines were given, and all precautions were explained in detail. A personal follow-up doctor’s number was given so that proper follow-up can be taken, and if there is any query, the patient can directly call the doctor.
After the post hair transplant procedure, the first 2 to 3 months patient was under the shedding phase, where a majority of the implanted hair fell out. All the hairs didn’t shed at a time. During this phase, 1 PRP was given at 2 a 2.5-month interval. Existing hair in the middle area showed good response to PRP & medical treatment. And his hair fall of existing hairs stopped.
Donor area skin healed completely by the end of 1 month, and hair density looked normal by the end of 2 months in the donor area.
This phase starts at 2 and a half months. Now, slowly, implanted hairs started sprouting, filling the blank areas in hairline and front area. 2nd PRP was given to boost transplanted hair growth and existing hairs at 4 and a half months. Trimmed existing hairs almost achieved a full density look at the end of 3rd month.
This phase starts at around 6 months. During these months, implanted hairs started growing fast with almost more than 90% density, though length of each hair is not similar, but with a small hair length hairstyle, patient is comfortable and satisfied. 1 booster PRP was given at this phase at 9 months.
Full hair transplant result of Rakesh Mishra was achieved at 11 months. Here, patient is able to do any hairstyle. Patient had 3–4 haircuts in donor area and front area as well. Patient was asked to continue Minoxidil & if required, do booster PRP as per need in future for maintaining existing hair.
As the final result was achieved, patient was very happy and fully satisfied with the treatment protocol provided. Now, Rakesh enjoys his desirable hair transplant results with full confidence when he is in social. You can watch his result photos below.
