Today we have a case study and review of our patient Divyang Patel. We will go through his hair transplant journey in this article.
Divyang Patel is 27 years old single male from Chandigarh, India.
He is suffering from Grade of baldness level 3 for 2 to 3 years. He had started hair fall problems 4 to 5 years ago. At present, he has lost his hairline completely as well as complete hair loss in front area with middle area hair thinning.
Genetically his father has baldness but late onset of hair loss. So, genetically he is more prone to hair loss.
He is not suffering from any medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other disease.
Previously he was not undergone any major surgery on the body
Patient has not any allergy to food or medicine.
Patient has no keloid in the body.
He had taken some home remedies and also used minoxidil for about one year. Initially, it showed some improvement witha few baby hairs. But later on, no significant improvement in the level of baldness.
Finally, he consulted Dr.Jinkal Kunjadiya, a renowned dermatologist at our Surat branch. He was given a thorough knowledge about hair transplants, and his conditions, and discussed his expectations, and results of hair transplants with all advantages and disadvantages.
After a thorough understanding of hair transplant surgery, Mr.divyang got ready for the surgery at the Surat branch of Hairfree and Hairgrow clinic. Finally, the patient is taken for the hair transplant procedure.
Divyang Patel’s hair transplant was done using BIG-FUE technique and 5 PRP was done at 2 monthly intervals for 1 year after the hair transplant.
Supplements, DHT blocker, and Minoxidil 5% solution were given post-transplant to maintain and grow hairs.
Hairline design is done by Dr.Jinkal Kunjadiya . Also, Trichoscopy analysis was done to check donor area hair quality and the quality of existing hair in recipient area.
Patient’s donor area is good and his hair is thick and black.
Then after a skin sensitivity test for anesthesia done and found non non-allergic to anesthesia content.
Afterward, Patient’s head is shaved for the procedure, and pateint is taken to operation theater for hair transplant surgery.
As the surgery started, the patient, ‘s scalp was cleaned with betadine & alcohol.
Now local modified block anesthesia was given with vibration painless technique.
Slit-making is done by an expert hair transplant surgeon using a Saphhire tip blade 0.9 mm using a magnifying loupe.
It is a very important step and the angle and the direction of the slit are given properly. So that there will be a natural-looking hairline and hairs will grow in the proper direction.
Extraction of grafts is carefully done by an expert doctor using a magnifying loupe and 0.8 mm sharp serrated sterile titanium punch.
Around 95 minutes time taken for extracting the grafts.
If we classify the Graft analysis of Divyang, it was thick, dark black hair. Double-rooted grafts are more in quantity. Among all extracted grafts 15% were single-rooted grafts and rest 85% were multiple-root grafts containing double and triple-rooted grafts. A total of 3024 grafts were extracted.
The extracted grafts were stored at 4* degree temperature in a graft chiller machine dipped in Gro Factor solution and hypothermal solution.
The final step is the implantation of extracted grafted into the slit made. The Graft insertion was done by using a K.E.E.P implanter of various sizes for 1,2,3 FU grafts. The approximate Time taken for implantation was 3 hours.
After completion of implantation dressing was done, post-procedure medicines were given and all precautions were explained in detail. A personal follow-up doctor’s number was given, so that proper follow-up can be taken, and if there is any query, the patient can directly call the doctor.
Post hair transplant procedure first 3-4 months patient was in the shedding phase where the majority of implanted hair fell out. All the hairs didn’t shed at a time. During this phase 2 PRP were given at 2 months intervals. Existing hair in the middle area has shown a good response to PRP & medical treatment.
Donor area skin heals completely by the end of 1 month & hair density looks normal by the end of 2-3 months in the donor.
This phase starts at 3-4-5 months. Now slowly implanted hairs started sprouting filling the blank areas in the hairline and front area. 3rd PRP was given to boost transplanted hair growth and existing hairs. Existing hairs almost achieved full density look at the end of 5th month.
This phase starts at around 6-7-8 months. During these months implanted hairs started growing fast with almost more than 90% density. 1 booster PRP was given at this phase at 9 months.
Full hair transplant result was achieved at 12 months. Here patient is able to do any hairstyle.
Patient had 2-3 haircuts in the donor area and front area as well., The patient was asked to continue minoxidil & if required do booster PRP as needed in the future for maintaining existing hair.
As the final result was achieved, the patient was very happy and fully satisfied with the treatment provided.
